“I've had a wonderful experience so far at the UPEI School of Nursing. I came here after attending a larger university and found such a difference in class size, professor/student ratio and the caring atmosphere of the university as a whole. All of my professors have been outstanding and have made a great effort to accommodate students - I have a young daughter so it's always nice to know your professors and instructors understand that life outside of class time isn't always spent on doing work. Most professors and instructors know the students personally, so it makes it easier to go for extra help. Each and every clinical experience I've had has been great, with lots of hands on training and extra learning experiences that larger universities aren't able to offer. The campus, professors, instructors and set up of the program all make Nursing at UPEI so enjoyable. I'm proud to be a UPEI School of Nursing student!” – Third Year Nursing Student

“I love UPEI's Nursing program for many reasons. First, it offers small class sizes, which enables you to interact with and get to know each member in your class. The small class sizes allow professors to know each student on a first name basis, which makes communicating with them much easier. Second, I really enjoy beginning to learn hands on and critical thinking skills in the first year and being able to experience clinical placements in the first year of the degree. Lastly, the course content is so relevant and practical, you are able to pull skills and theory from class and apply it to clinical practice!” – Third Year Nursing Student

“I came to UPEI from Alberta for a small, personal university experience, the school of nursing has proved to be just that, with friendly professors who know each student personally, knowledgeable instructors and amazing broad-ranged clinical experiences, I could not have made a better choice for a intimate, highly academic nursing school experience.” – Third Year Nursing Student

“My first degree was at another university where there are over 30,000 students. At UPEI I am so grateful for small class sizes and the ability to get to know faculty and staff members by name! The School of Nursing has so many wonderful faculty members with invaluable experiences they share with us each day. The faculty and staff are committed to students' success and their well-being. This university experience has blown my "big-city" experience out of the water, and all surrounded by the beautiful PEI natural landscape.” – Second Year Accelerated Program Nursing Student

“When I first began the UPEI Nursing program I knew that I had the right personality to be a nurse. I was caring, compassionate, and very considerate of other people’s experiences and way of life. I was ready to be a nurse!

As my journey of a nursing student began, I soon learned that even though I had some of the qualities of being a nurse, that there was way more to learn in order to be a “Registered Nurse”. If there is one thing I can say about the Nursing Program at UPEI, it would be that the faculty who represent the entire curriculum are great mentors in representing what a Registered Nurse truly is.  They show great compassion in what they do and are very supportive to each student’s needs and obstacles that they are to over come in order to be successful with this very rewarding yet challenging career that they have chosen.

I am now a fourth year student in the Nursing program. I have been challenged a great deal, I have struggled a great deal, but I have learned a great deal more. I am almost done the program! On the day of graduation, when I walk up on the stage to receive my diploma, I know that I am ready to spread my wings and be not only the nurse that I knew I could be, but that Registered Nurse that the faculty envisioned us all nursing students to be right from the very first day of classes. To the best faculty of Nurses that a student can ask for… I Thank-You!” – Fourth Year Nursing Student

“Throughout my four years at the UPEI School of Nursing I have experienced exceptional growth. Thanks to the small class sizes at UPEI, I have developed life-long friendships with my colleagues and professors. The School of Nursing is an intimate environment that instills a feeling that faculty truly cares for you- maybe because they are nurses! Throughout my education I have been able to work jobs directly related to nursing and develop references for my future career as a nurse. I have been provided with hands-on and critical thinking skills key to nursing. Most importantly, I have learned compassion and empathy. If you desire to be a nurse, UPEI will give you that gift.” – Fourth Year Nursing Student
